Qualification

The Crane Specialist shall be a Post graduate / Graduate Mechanical / Electrical Engineering with ATLEAST 4 LEEA Qualification and minimum of 10 year's experience in the inspection and maintenance of Lifting equipment in Oil and Gas industry.

The technical detail necessary toanswer all crane and lifting questions at the work site is outside the scope of this manual. Accordingly, a facility designated Crane Specialist well trained and knowledge in Crane an rigging activities, should be available as a resource and consultant to the facility.

The Crane Specialist shall have sufficient background and knowledge to perform or guide the following activities. 

1. Develop or evaluate critical and non- standard fitting plans.

2. Select and assign the correct crane to work activities

3. Inspect lifting equipment to facility and regulatory requirements

4. Monitor the effectiveness of programmed maintenance

5. Troubleshoot lifting equipment problems and safety system

6. Monitor the effectiveness of the wire rope inspection program to ensure it achieves expectations of 

    predicting wire rope replacement needs

7. Assess the competence of crane operators, riggers, and inspectors

8. Supervise critical and multiple crane lifts

9. Monitor and administer a safe lifting equipment program

10. Guide and administer a safe lifting equipment program

11. Assess the effectiveness of the lifting equipment program in achieving its objectives

12. Participate in the Crane Supplier Prequalification Process and the Third Party Crane Supply 

      Process
